We have received the following urgent notice from Data Channel Australia regarding exotic trends data in their Bettordata racing information.

URGENT NOTICE - TRENDS DATA DECAYING

Please be advised that with the recent increase in the number of NSW retail sites crossing over from the NSW host system (SYCO) to the Victorian host system (BRAVO) the value of NSW Trends Data (Trifecta {RT10 & RT30} and First4 {RT30} and Quadrella {RT31}) is decaying.

The data is flagged as being "offcourse" only but with the conversion of all (NSW) accounts betting to the BRAVO system and the transfer of NSW Retail sites to BRAVO the proportion of the pool which is giving the 'trend' is becoming the minority - and will continue to diminish rapidly as the final conversion of retail sites accelerates in the lead up to Spring Racing.

Until yesterday I had been advised that the BRAVO system would be making trends data available, however on questioning Tabcorp it is now apparent that trend data will NOT be available (for neither NSW nor VIC) in their (Tabcorp) software release later this month (as had been expected). I had no reason to suspect otherwise as Tabcorp guaranteed the NSW Government that NSW customers would not have any diminution of service with the transfer from SYCO to BRAVO (which this clearly is!).

To assist in providing feedback to Tabcorp can you please advise me if you, and/or your end user clients, make use of this Trend data; and if you (or they) will be materially affected by the loss of it?

In view of the risk of punters wagering unaware with non-representative data we have taken the following measure.

As of midnight tonight (3-8-2007) all internet transmission of RT10, RT30 and RT31 will be disabled (on a per user/login basis). This can be reinstated quickly on request (email Support) when (end) users have acknowledged the limitations and risks of using this data.

We cannot however take such surgical measures with the Datacast delivery; therefore it is your responsibility to advise any Datacast end user of yours that the Trends data is no longer significantly representative of the investments in any NSW Trifecta, First4 or Quadrella pool.

We are continuing discussions with Tabcorp on the issue and reserve the right to summarily terminate transmission of affected Record Types if in our opinion the trend data is no longer useful and/or has the potential to harm the high credibility of the BettorData feed.
Please note Quinella and Exacta and Multi-leg (Doubles and Quadrella) Approximates along with last leg "will-pays" are NOT affected.
